This is a sad day for me personally as a member of the NRA. A 21-gun salute is in order. R.I.P. Mr. Heston

Charlton Heston Dead at 84

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Charlton Heston, who won the 1959 best actor Oscar as the chariot-racing "Ben-Hur" and portrayed Moses, Michelangelo, El Cid and other heroic figures in movie epics of the '50s and '60s, has died. He was 84.

A spokesman for the actor's family said Heston died Saturday at his home in Beverly Hills. His wife Lydia was at his side.

I guess they'll finally be able to pry that gun from his hands.

I respected the man, as I understand it he was a big civil rights guy and marched with MLK Jr. He starred in the best Orson Welles movie in my opinion and gave an absolutely terrific performance in Branagh's Hamlet. RIP bud.

This was my first thought as well. I guess it was too good of a joke for just me to think of.
