It's heartwrenching to lose a friend, more so when they're young. Been there, never want that t-shirt again.
RIP Daisy, and know that you were loved.
Daniel - thoughts and good energy to you and your family, and to speed Daisy on her journey.

Sorry to hear about your pup, D. I know they can be great friends.
I lost Shoto this past August. She's a Korean Jindo, sort of like a small Akita. Terrible attitude. Mean and nasty and very territorial. Hated everybody except me and my beloved wife, Julie. Great watchdog, tho. About five years ago, Shoto bolted during a rainstorm and tuned up twelve days later atop one of the Hollywood Hills at some multi-million dollar house -- she'd traveled six miles as the crow flies through some of the crappiest parts of town and managed somehow to cross (over or under) the 101 freeway (5 lanes, either side).
When my beautiful Julie passed away in February, I was sure Shoto had only days herself. She was in bad shape but pulled through and was a great comfort to me during those difficult days. Shoto finally laid down in August, and I miss her (and more importantly, Julie) an awful lot....
Trying hard to stay on topic, here's a pic of my pup....

The contractor tells my wife that they have an abandoned dog at their office. When families move to another base, housing goes in and fixes things up and does repairs. So, they went to one house and saw this dog running from the front door to the back door, wanting to get in.
They take the dog the neighbors house to see if she was theirs and got loose. The neighbor said that she belonged to the family that moved out.....a week ago!!! This poor dog was abandoned and alone for a week! The fact that someone would just abandon a pet is bad enough but why didn't the freaking neighbor call someone when they KNEW the dog didn't have a home??
People suck. Anyway, my wife has known for a long time that I wanted a dog (we have 2 cats), so she went to check her out. Turns out she was skinny to the point where you could see her ribs, but such a sweet dog. We adopted her.
There's more to tell but I think I've hijacked this thread enough. Really sorry. Anyway, here's a pic of "Roxy" and my son the day we got her:

Last I heard on the other thread, Daisy had surgery to remove an oven mitt from her stomach. I though all was well after the surgery. Apparently, things did not go so well. My deepest condolences to you and your family. What happened?

D my fav pic there is the one where the Sheppard is looking at Daisy in the car - they look like a married couple and the man (Sheppard) is asking his wife to "stop telling me when to turn I know how to get get to where we need to go" !

| | | | I've always loved dogs and know how you feel. Lost one in the same way and would give any of my basses to get it back. Looking at those pictures makes me cry. Maybe you could name the bass Daisy. |

This thread and the original FS thread are bitter sweet, but they truly emphasizes what a loving, wonderful community we as bass players, and animal lovers, have here on TB. The outpouring of support here touches my heart at its deepest level and makes me proud to sling my trusty 5-string over my shoulder knowing that I share company in a trade with many of the finest people on this planet.
And just a little bump from the big guy to all the animal owners here:
PSALM 136:25
...And who gives food to every creature. His love endures forever.
@ D Bopp (Daniel)
Where ever Daisy now resides I'm sure she's watching with a wagging tail, happy to see the joy she brought into your life, and the impact she's had on all of us to remember and give thanks to the people (human or animal) who are most important to each of us. |

Losing a pet is like losing one of the family. My dog is seven y.o. so hopefully, we have many years yet together. The only consulation you can take is that she had a good life.
That photo of "Daisy" and pal, chilling out is pricless.

fearcol, the other dog in the pics is named Oscar. He and Daisy were like brother and sister. She loved him so much and he always put up with her picking on him I think Oscar is starting to figure out what's going on and that makes me even sadder.

My dogs are like children to me, I lost one a few years ago and it was one of the hardest things I ever went through...fwiw in the 5 years Ginger was on this earth, the only bad memory I have was the end.
She lives on in my memory, as I'm sure Daisy will w/ you.
If it means anything I often smile, now, when I think of her instead of becoming overwhelmed with sadness. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
