Activision officially annouced the death of the Guitar hero franchise yesterday. For what it's worth, my kids and I loved playing it, and it got them listening to music that I grew up listening to.
I've heard some musicians hate on it, and others love it because of their love of music.
Is anyone else saddened by the announcement?

I just hope Activision and TreyArch finally do the same with the Call of Duty franchise |

My 2 cents anyway.

-Mike | That's a shame. I wonder when people will wise up and realize that they've bought the same game three times in a row now. |

Is anyone else saddened by the announcement? | As a private music teacher with 20 guitar/bass students, Guitar Hero helped educate and motivate young people to play some of the greatest pop music. Kids who would otherwise think Billy Joe Armstrong was a great guitar player learned differently because of Guitar Hero, and provided me a steady roster of hungry, motivated students.
I think Rock Band will still serve that purpose.

But like electracoyote said it did motivate some people to play a real instrument. I have some friends who started to play guitar because of Guitar Hero so its not to bad. Just not my cup of tea.

I tried it once and immediately hated it. It's almost insulting when, a song you can play in your sleep on a real guitar, is extremely hard to play with a game controller.
