Tomorrow the KKK is having a rally close to where i live, I'm really glad i don't have to go near there and i'll be going in the opposite direction.

NAHUNTA, Ga. -- The Ku Klux Klan will be holding a rally in Nahunta, Ga, Saturday afternoon.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People plans to stage a counter-rally at the same time.

Earlier this week, Nahunta's police chief urged people to stay home during the KKK rally.

NAACP leaders said they'll be joined by a multi-racial group of community leaders at the Brantley County Courthouse in Nahunta.

They said there will not be any confrontations with participants in the KKK rally.
Why are they still allowed to have these rallies? Weren't they declared a terrorist organization in the early 1900's?

Doesn't it make you wonder why certain people even bother with this sort of activity?

The KKK still exists? I thought it was "split up" if you will in other white supremacist factions?

BTW, this thread is borderline, let's not make this political.

1) Everyone's gotta hate someone. Some people hate, some people hate haters. It's how the world works.

2) I'd rather people speak freely and out themselves if they're fringers. It makes keeping tabs on them easier.

3) I don't want impediments on speech. It's far better to have a handful of extremists saying horrible things than to encroach on the rest of us and have us all lose the ability to say things that may be worthwhile.

As yes,the KKK.

Kinda like that hemorrhoid you forget you have until it pops up every few years.....

I remember moving back into Houston when I started highschool. ( 1979 ) We moved close to Pasadena, which I had heard was still a KKK stronghold.Out of curiosity,me and some friends drove by the KKK headquarters one night.I guess they were not as strong as I had imagined.

Someone had spray-painted the outside of the building with the slogan, "Earl Campbell #1!"

Friggin' stupid racists..............

The KKK are like clowns of hatred. Some of them say stuff that I know they can't seriously believe. These are some dumb worthless people, but I can't honestly believe that they are really that dumb, but rather are just saying really dumb things to get a little media attention. But then again, perhaps I'm giving them more credit than they deserve. Maybe they really are that dumb. I will support their right to assemble and speak but I'll also exhibit my right to not listen and to turn them off.

I may disagree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Dude, I live in Deer Park, which is directly next to Pasadena. Have my entire life.To be honest, I didn't think the KKK even had a presence in this area...which shows how powerful they are here, I guess

if you think the KKK is scary try imagining all of the people that think like them but just blend in rather than wear a bedsheet.

^ Howdy neighbor! (Crenshaw exit.)

Well, they did have a headquarters there back in the 70's.I think their big last hurrah around here was the whole Vietnamese fisherman thing.

Are you old enough to remember the Red Bluff theater?

I am not, unfortunately. Never heard of it, TBH. I do drive Red Bluff everyday to go to college though! (UH-Clear Lake)

Are you referring to the El Capitan?

Are you still in the area?

Yup. Red Bluff theater was a drive-in porno movie.I think it closed down around the time I graduated. ( Dobie,1983 ) I'm back in this area after being away for about 20 years.WAY different than what it was.

EDIT: What a drag it is getting old...........

Used to be KKK and Neo Nazi rallies a ways north of where I live. Eventually there were more people out protesting the rallies than attending them so they died out.

hang on a second, this is the US we're talking about. they (KKK) have the right to protest peacefully as much as they want to w/in the freedom that the Constitution grants them.

i am in agreement w/ the spirit of your protest but for that same reason, i must say that it is precisely for this reason that it be political!

No, they're really dumb. You might say retarded, but that would be offensive to retarded people.
