My buddy died today before I could get to my parents place tonight to see him one last time.

He hated the thunder and could barely walk but still went out in the rain to die in the breezeway...A good dog right up to the end.

Thanks in advance for tolerating my depressing thread, stuck at work and I needed to get it out.

Feel you man, lost a few of my dogs a few years back (they were all about the same age).

Remember the good times, and if you want to fill the gap, go look at the stray animal homes

Sad, man, but not depressing. Animals rock! Although, being a cat guy, dogs drool and cats rule! Cheer up, I'll have a beer for Cody tonight and wish you well. You were luck to have a creature you could care that much for.

I have a young and crazy cat in my apartment so I won't go with out a furry friend. Still gonna miss the old mutt though.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the kind words.

Ps. He loved carrots, perhaps even more than TB does.

Sorry to hear it - losing a pet really is losing a true friend.

I'm cracking a beer right now and will drink a toast to his memory for you.

Now that's a dog!

Condolences... You may not feel like it right now, but try and focus on the great moments that you and Cody shared... Tell us a few more!

I'm with rcarraher on this one... Animals Rock! They enrich our lives... I'll hoist one tonight in memory and share a toast with Blue, (the dachshund in my avatar... He likes a small nip now and again)...

Aww dude...my dog's name is Cody. I know how much it would hurt to lose him, and I'm sorry you had to go through that with your dog.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I felt so empty when my last dog died.

I currently have a 4 year old Alaskan Malamute also named Cody and your post immediately made me realize how sad I am going to feel when he is gone. I adopted him 3 years ago. He loves carrots and any other fruit or vegetable he can get a hold of. My Asian Pear tree is filled with ripe fruit so that is what he has been eating a lot of lately, soon it will be apple season. Whenever I go to the local taqueria to get a burrito for lunch I make sure to grab a couple of nice big radishes to bring home to treat Cody... he loves them.

Will be toasting your Cody tonight, right now mine has the "I am ready for my dinner and walk look" so off I go...

Hope you can stay focused on the good times you and Cody had.

SR
