For the past 2 or 3 weeks, I have been getting huge whiffs of random smells. I was riding in the car the other day and smelled rubbing alcohol, and my mom who was right beside me didn't. This has happened several times with the alcohol smell, peanut butter, peaches, mint, pizza, and several other things that smelled really strong but that I was nowhere near and nobody else can smell it. Any ideas?

Not trying to worry you, but this is what came up when I did a quick search. Other explanations all centered around ghosts...I tend to side with medical science in these cases. Did you hit your head prior to the start of these unexplained smells?

Phantosmia is an olfactory hallucination--specifically, the phenomenon of smelling odors that aren't really present. The most common odors are unpleasant smells such as rotting flesh, vomit, urine, feces, smoke, etc. Phantosmia often results from damage to the nervous tissue in the olfactory system. The damage can be caused by viral infection, brain tumor, trauma, surgery, and possibly exposure to toxins or drugs. Phantosmia can also be induced by epilepsy affecting the olfactory cortex and is also thought to possibly have psychiatric origins. - Wikipedia

Do You smoke?
Do You do "controlled substances"?
Both can do wonders for our senses .
Some people have a better sense of smell than others, just like any other sense.
Sometimes our senses (brains) also play tricks on us, tricks that are hard to distinguish from reality.
I for example am really sensitive to smoke of any kind, especially asbestos lining smell. I don't know why, perhaps I'm unconsiously afraid that I'll die in a fire. Doesn't explain the asbestos lining smell though.
The environment around us is filled with cents and smells. Sometimes the combinations aren't easily recognized by the brain, and it makes an "assumption". Quite the same when we try to identify a random instrument in a tune.
Regards
