Rate them how? Sexiness? Lifespan? Sleaziness? Income? Minnesota Multiphasic? Height? Coolness? Tendency to perversion?

Like anything else, it's what you make of it. A good friend of mine is a lawyer, and he's one of the better humans I know. I also know a few that are total slime - however, they'd be total slime no matter what job they had.

What's the difference between a lawyer and a Carp?

One's a scum sucking bottom feeder.... and the other one's a fish!

Since I was 8, I wanted to be a lawyer. There is a number of reasons I still want to be one. So for me, I'd rate it a 10!

FWIW most people have no idea what the majority of lawyers do. They base their opinions off what they see on a handful of TV shows. Being a lawyer is fairly meaningless unless you know the type of law they practice in. There are such great differences between different fields of practice that they are basically different professions. A corporate lawyer would have no chance of being able to do a basic family law application or criminal hearing. An employment lawyer couldn't do a bank guarantee. The difference between practice areas are as great as the different practices in medicine. Basically rating law as a profession is meaningless unless you know the type of law you want to get in to. IME - hence I gave it a 10. Out of what? Who knows.

I have 2 lawyers in the family, who both argues in front of the Supreme Court. I would have to say that both were/are honorable people. They worked real hard at what they did.

Along the way, I met a number of lawyers who were scumballs. As somebody else said, they would have been scumballs regardless of their profession.

Most lawyers are hardworking people, trying to bring home a paycheck, to feed their family, etc. The image of the lawyer as rich, etc., applies to only a few lawyers. Kind of like the iceberg. You only see the top, maybe, 10%. The rest is invisible.

I like lawyers when I need them, not when they are calling me. So I give it a 5 since the good and the bad makes it average.
