Oh man, I really really wish I hadn't read this. Dog lovers, seriously - this is rough. If you're sensitive, just move on and don't read. I feel sick after reading this. Who the hell's fault is this and how can this be prevented from EVER happening again???

I read this yesterday, extremely sad. Put them up for adoption or something. I can't imagine what the employee must be going through.

Well that's the thing - apparently they tried to put them up for adoption and some were adopted out, but obviously not enough...

I'm still undecided about how I feel about this guy. He could have said no, absolutely. But would he have been out of a job if he did? If the guy's got a family to support and such, maybe saying "no" isn't a real option but of course I'm only speculating.

It's just horrible any way you look at it.

I read this story this morning when I got to work. Made me sick to my stomach. I hope that company gets nailed to the wall.

I read about this in the paper this morning. Absolutely reprehensible in every way. The use of the word "cull" in this context is simply a euphemism for "slaughter". Sickening.

Yeah. And if this was done for economic reasons to keep the company afloat financially, I think that they just bit themselves in the arses. I can't imagine that business is going to be booming now after this gets out. Idiots!!

Yep. If the tourists don't stay away on account of the story I'm pretty sure that local pressure will help "cull the herd".

He could have refused on the bases of unsafe work, but I don't know how far that would have gotten.

Unfortunately this will be forgotten in two to three weeks or less. The gun laws wont change much after you know what, so whats gonna happen to the owners? Nada really.

Sickening indeed.

um..what..? What does this have to do with gun laws?? The majority of dogs were shot and some had their throats slit, I'm not following what you mean.

I really hope this is not forgotten. If it comes to animals, especially dogs or cats, it's less likely to be forgotten than if a person was murdered I think. IMO of course

This is completely wrong. I thought there were laws that protected against Animal Abuse and this fits in it, although, it go's way beyond simple animal abuse.

Slaughtering innocent, healthy animals, without the intent to use them for food is completely wrong in my opinion.
I will say that at least it seemed to be relatively quick and painless for the animals. Nevertheless, it made me sick to read about that. I have four huskies of my own, and each of them is getting a hug when I get home.

Did you get to the part of the article about Suzie? (If not, you might want to skip it.)

Yeah, I have three, all of which were rescues.

if my job involved shooting dogs en masse ,i would rather be on welfare.....i really have little patience for guys that are so weak of character that they would do something like that, then cry that they had no choice.....

I hear you. I'm not defending the guy per se, just trying to understand WTH it was about murdering 100 animals that seemed acceptable to carry out for this guy...??

I could be wrong of course, but I was always under the impression that your gun laws are not so dissimilar to ours here in New Jersey in that you can own guns but you're limited as to what you can own, just about everything has to be registered, and you need a license or permit?
