Receipt in my car made me depressed

Sign in to disble this ad
I decided to do some spring cleaning (caused by the massive amounts of bird turds on my car) so I cleaned every nook and cranny of my car. For some reason I collect receipts from when I fill up my car with gas. I had a blast from the past when I saw a receipt from October 2006 where I filled up my car for $19.00 It's crazy to imagine that I was only paying $2.30 a gallon less than 18 months ago. Cost me over $36 to fill up my car at $3.56-ish for regular. Premium gas is about to break $4 here.

$2.30 a gallon, what's that? I drove by a gas station today where the cheap stuff was like $3.95/gal.

Well I drive a '96 Rav4 so I am not getting good mileage... I fill up when I reach 1/4 of a tank and that's usually not even 200 miles.

Hahaha, you Americans haven't got it too badly in the grand scheme of things, I pay $10.37 per gallon (£1.15 a litre of Diesel), but then I guess we have always had to pay more.

It's crazy to think I've only been driving 6 years, and I've seen gas more than triple in that time.

2002 - $0.999
2004 - $1.799
2006 - $2.599
2008 - $3.649

$3.70 per gallon for regular in Hilo, HI. Public transportation is almost nonexistent where I live. It costs about $8.00 per day to go to and from work each day. That doesn't include $3.00 per day for parking. That's about $220 per month. I only clear $1400 per month.

Petrol broke $2 here a while ago.

2 (Singapore dollars per litre) = 5.61 U.S. dollars per US gallon

My, you Americans really do have it hard don't you!!!

Here is a quote by a British person showing why the Americans shouldn't be complaining:

You are not doing so bad, I fill my thank with $40 usd and I drive 70 miles everyday, so I need to fill the thank every 4 days, I also need to fill my wife's minivan every 10 days that is$ 70... lets see $ 40*6 = 240 plus 70* 3 = 210 grand total $ 450 usd per month .

I think this a good excuse to get a bike

It gives me a ragin chubby when the Brits come in and act all cheeky about how much they pay.

I heard a news bite today that said some people are now paying more a month in gas than they do on thier car payment. That is insane.

It costs me 10 bucks a day to go back and forth to work (about 28 miles one way....40-ish minutes) and I really really want to get a 4 banger to help alleviate that, but I simply cannot take on another (newer) car payment right now...the savings proportionate to what I spend out with my current car is not a wash.

Quit complaining - it's three times the US price in the UK.

At least you guys can get fuel (not to mention we are still paying about twice as much as what you are).

Apparently Scotland will be short of fuel come friday/saturday with the only refinary closing due to strike action

Over here when the prices were good it was ~70p / litre. That works out to about $6.40 per gallon. Prices here are now closer to $10 per gallon
