It seems like it's only been over the past year or so where I've developed a taste for spicy things - throwing jalapenos in pizza or hot dogs, burying my burritos in tobasco (which I know isn't very hot compared to a lot of stuff out there), etc.
So, where do I start? For me, flavor is infinitely more important than the actual heat, so as long as it tastes great the heat is more of a secondary issue. Any particular brands you guys prefer?

Edit: If you ever make your way up to North Western Arkansas, there is a Sauce that I've only found in those parts called Shadden's. Maybe Blender's heard of it, but that stuff is the bomb. It's a BBQ sauce, so it's not a hotsauce per say, but their hot version is phenomenal.

Go to hotsauceworld.com and check some stuff out. Blair's makes many good hot sauces from mild to insane, I also like Dave's hot sauces. Check out Dave's insanity sauce, it's hot as hell but I really dig the flavor....a dab'll do ya. I also like Buffalo's chipolte hot sauce which you could find at most any store.
If you want you can make a decent hot sauce if you but some canned chipoltes in adobo sauce, throw a can in a blender with some lime juice, a shot of tequilla, some cilantro and a couple cloves of garlic. You can add habenero or cayenne depending your heat tolerance but it's pretty hot as is. I use this as a marinade for pork tenderloin. |

Melinda's sounds pretty interesting too. Definitely will read into Zakk's sauce. Kwesi, Cholula is another favorite to throw in my breakfast burritos.
FTR, I think the Sriracha "rooster sauce" stuff tastes like crap. I guess I need to do some reading in what makes sauces taste certain ways.

I ad it to my food using a toothpick cause you dont need that much. I have ruined many a meal by adding too much. But if added just right it gives just the right amount of forhead sweat, watery eyes, and clear sinuses. http://www.hotsauceworld.com/dabomhothots.html |

They make a lot of the hot sauces that are available today, including Dave's Insanity and Da Bomb (one of my favorites). They are literally less than 10 minutes from my house. If you find something you want to try and can't find, send me a PM and I can probably hook you up. You may be able to order direct from them though.

I don't keep a lot of condiments, but hot sauce is one of those that I can't live without. Not to mention it is way healthier than globbing mayo or ranch on something.
