I need to go out and listen to some good live music ...not smooth jazz. Preferably bebop era improvising-type or jazz fusion.

Blues Alley in Georgetown has some great acts. I was going to go see the Yellowjackets this past weekend, but work sent me out of town.

Wolf Trap usually has good stuff every once in a while. It's a pretty cool venue as well.

They have George Benson coming up.

Take a stroll down U Street on a weekend night and you'll probably find something.

The Saloon in Georgetown used to have good jazz most nights. Haven't been there in years though.

only been there about 3 times and all on weekend nights but the bands were always soul/R&B type bands. Maybe they have jazz during the week.
