When asking for a recommendation of a product, the person making the request is not being recommended, the product is. The question should be phrased "Recommend a widget to me."

Around here it seems to be standard to ask that someone, "recommend me a widget." How did this become the way people ask for recommendations?

I don't really care about typos, but stuff like this drives me crazy, especially when I see it in amps, effects, and OT one right after the other.

This kind of thing used to bother me until I moved to Texas and lived here for 5 or 6 years. Now I just go with the flow and you might hear me say things like, "You done throwed up once already, Bubba" or, "Fine, here's you another beer. Just don't get none in my car."
