i found an old gamestop gift card i never used and i'm looking for a game with 2 player mode in mind but still great 1 player. Pretty much any game genre except scary games, sports, and racing. Thanks in advance for the suggestions and let the recommendation commence.

Grand Theft Auto. Either Vice City or San Andreas. Or sell the PS2 and buy a Wii and SSMB Brawl.

I actually have it, I'm just too scared to play it.

I'm addicted to the Star Wars Battlefront games (1 and 2)
I'm sure there are probably games with better graphics, better features, whatever. But for some reason those are my favs.

Yeah it was a little freaky at first, but eventually you get powerful modern weaponry that makes you feel safer than anything else ever could.

I second that. But I prefer San Andreas, there's more to do in it and it's a bit more difficult to get 100% on.

War Of The Monsters is fun as heck and dirt cheap.

Bard's Tale is a great adventure/RPG.

Twisted Metal Black isn't really racing...

Call of Duty 3, or Medal of Honour Frontline... urgh.. i have too many ps2 games never mind.

Any of the Tony Hawk's pro skaters are lots of fun by yourself or with other people

Final Fantasy X for PS2, or go old school and get FF7 or FF8 (for PS1) - some of my favorite ever games.

Soul Calibur III was for PS2, IIRC.

Any of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games kicked major butt too.

Any of the Medal of Honor or Call of Duty series is always a safe bet as far as I'm concerned. As stated GTA Vice City or San Andreas is also good call.

+1, I played through this game at least 20 times all together. It all worth it for the PRL 412.

+1 to The Warriors, it isn't a hard game and if you have ever seen the movie it is spot on. I have to say that the best one player game is God of War and everyone that likes some action should pick up that game.

Manhunt and Manhunt 2 are the only games you need. Especially Manhunt.

Okami was a great game. If you like Zelda-style games then you should pick it up.
