My 17 yr old high school senior has high grades and SAT (1410), and is interested in a college that has a good biomed engineering program. Can someone recommend colleges to visit within a 6 hour drive of the mid-atlantic region?

Not sure of the credibility of that site, but the names are ones you'll most likely recognize. Looking back, I should have probably gone this route (had the same high school credentials)...the med school route is much harder to enter than I expected.

My sister got her Mech Eng degree there, I should have but music got in the way. |

I'm an alum of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA so I'm biased, but by most accounts it is one of the best engineering schools in the world. There's also RPI in upstate New York, WPI in Massachusetts, and of course MIT in Boston.
Good luck to your daughter! Sounds like she's off to a good start in life. |

With her SAT scores and HS grades, she is guaranteed a nice scholarship. I go there now, so if you have any particular questions feel free to ask.
Also, Johns Hopkins is one of the best schools around for BME. If she can get accepted and the cost for you is reasonable, I highly recommend it. Hopkins has always been my dream medical school. |

I'm not aware of biomed engineering specifically, but, given Penn's excellence in all things medical and its good engineering school, I'd be surprised if it weren't an excellent option.

You're welcome. |

I personally recommend public universities, as I think they give you a better bang for the buck - but not if you can line up scholarships at a private university. I am not an advocate of stacking up loans, and much prefer to stay in-state to reduce tuition.
If a public university in your home state has a good program GO THERE. You will get a solid education for half the price of going out-of-state, and your daughter can go elsewhere for a Master's in BioMed Eng when she's done. In that field, she's likely to want the Master's in any case.
