| Recommended security measures for Internet browsing on AT&T smartphones?

I just put Yahoo!Go on my AT&T Tilt, and I find it really convenient for all of my Internet needs. But it does raise the question about security for me. My logic tells me that if my phone is not connected to Cingular's 3G network, then I am not online. Therefore, I am not signed into my Yahoo! account. But my brain is wondering if I'm logged in all the time while my phone is online, and if I'm exposing myself to hackers by using Yahoo!Go and signing into my account with my phone.
Does anyone have any advice or recommendations to safeguard your smartphone better while using it to browse online? For instance, I'm wondering about logging in to my e-mail, and logging off. Things like that. I don't have anything in particular that I want to protect against in my e-mail that I check, but I do get receipts and stuff in that e-mail address. I'd like to safeguard that kind of stuff as much as possible.
