Recording

I've had the crazy Idea of turning my bedroom into somewhere for me and my band to record, what sort of gear am I going to need and how much is it going to cost? I'm not looking to spend too much but I want something wothwhile.
I'll be recording a standard rock band 2 guitars, Bass, Vocals and drums (Drums will probobly have to be electronic)

We use a Presonus Firepod (firewire interface). But that is probably more than you would need.

We can mic if we want, but we usually record everything dry.

Guitar, Bass and Drums straight into the Firepod, record them clean.

Then apply VSTs. Amplitube2 for guitar, Ampeg SVX for bass (or just dry) and Addictive Drums or EZDrummer for drums.

If using an e-kit. Midi is the way to go.

Zoom H2 for $200. Dump the songs onto your computer to mix a bit with Audacity (free) and then burn them to cd or load them into your iTunes. Works great.

I use an Alesis mixer and a computer running Cubase.

I also use seven mics on the drums and two on the guitar.

The mixer will cost from $150 to $600 depending on the amount of channels you want.
