Recumbent Exercise Bikes?

Sign in to disble this ad
Can anybody recommend a really good one? I really only want to spend like $150 to $200, and it has to have a weight limit of 300, but preferably above that if possible. I have searched the major websites, but I was wondering if any of you guys had some personal experience. Thanks!

Good on ya for looking for this- I do have to wonder though, if $150 will get you a decent unit(I know nothing about exercise bikes, recumbent or traditional; I do know a bit about bicycles- sadly, $150 won't get you diddly, even used ). Consider this an encouraging bump.

Thanks, I appreciate it! I have found a couple that actually look decent for like $140. I am not training for the Olympics or anything, just wanting to break a sweat, so I figured it may be okay.

But, like how you are, I don't know anything about them. I have had a regular bike, but this is going to be interesting, haha.

Cool- having a bike, you should be able to discern between decent & total crepe construction. Happy pedalling!

I bought a cheapo $99 recumbent at Walmart years ago.
Still have it and use it almost every day.
No electronics and manual resistance adjustment.

I've lost about 35 lbs. in the last 4-5 months with it.

I just have a regular old fashiooned exercise bike that is in fairly poor condition, but still works. I went on a Caribbean cruise a couple of years ago and used their exercise room which had a NordicTrac recumbent bike. It was a really nice ex. bike, but I think they go for $450-500. Does anyone know the workout differential between an erect bike and a recumbent bike? I.e., is one better than the other or is it just that the recumbent is more comfortable?

I have heard that since recumbent bikes have more comfortable seats, you are more likely to use it. Also, it helps you breathe better since you are sitting back, and it helps you burn fat faster. If you are a hardcore regular biker, you want the erect one, since that is what you are used to.
