40 years ago yesterday marked the most catastrophic event in sports history when the Marshall Football team, coaches, boosters, were killed in a tragic plane crash less than a mile from the airport and only 5 minutes from landing.
Despite the tragic events that transpired, a few people kept the entire program from completely collapsing and from them not having football for an indefinite period of time. That is IMO how you honor those that died that fateful night.
