Replace Tuxedo - How Often?

Sign in to disble this ad
If a Tuxedo is showing very little wear, approximately how often should it be replaced?

After all, we want to be fashionable don't we? The one in question was high quality to begin with...

If you have any velvet or sequins on your tuxedo or it's powder blue, it may be time to upgrade.

Depends on the amount of stains and how many buttons have fallen off. I need a new tux jacket.

The bass covers up the rip that happened as the button got torn out.

I burn my tailored tuxedos after every gig. You need to get that crisp tux feel for best playing results.

I didn;t know I needed to have one.

I'd say replace it either when your butt gets too big for the slacks or your gut is so large you can;t button the coat.

If you opt for classic lines vs. trendy lines, and keep it cared for properly, you should not NEED to replace it at all.

Barring that, what absensia said.

I'm 5'10", 150 lb and poor. Any skinny bugger got too fat or wants to upgrade their tux PM me! Velvet and sequins considered also. Actually, a tonic suit would really spin my wheels.

I say find a tux at Salvation Army or some place like that. Why spend $$$$ when you wear the tux..once every 3 years???

A suit, sure, get a couple cheap $100 suits and also get yourself a nice $400 suit.

All a tux says is " I get to play extra shm*ck # 22 for the next 4 hours. "

There's a bonus in this situation. Since my brother and I wear the same size, we hand it off for the other to wear on different occasions.
To the suit makers of the world, sorry! We're being practical...

This.

I'll also go so far as to suggest that if you're wearing your tux for gigs only (and not, say, for your girlfriend's sister's wedding or your band's first appearance at the Grammy Awards show) that you can get away with a far greater degree of "un-cared-for-ness".
