respecting each other

[rant]

There's another forum I am on where the OT lounge is described as "primarily guitar related OT discussion only". Because of this, there have only been a few times where people get really angry at each other and people leave the board because there is almost zero controversial conversation. People don't get into political discussions and get PO'd at each other.

While I think an OT section is good, I hate to see us, all united by a common interest, fighting over stupid stuff. Maybe if you want to speak your mind about political/current issues, you should go to a news website and comment there.

I'm not trying to limit anything just to be an a-hole, I just think that if we all got along that this forum would be a friendlier place. I have an assumption that sometimes people don't post answers (or post snarky remarks) on people's bass-related posts that they don't like or have gotten into a tiff with in OT. I'm not perfect, I have taken part in my share.

We all have our right to our opinions, but I think in the interest of the board and out of respect for others maybe we should limit the OT a little more.

Idk, anyone else with me?

If we all "got along" this place would be boring beyond belief!

Fighting over stupid stuff and posting snarky comments is actually quite fun for most of us!

Now go along and find the Miss Manners board

That's why we have mods, so the stupid stuff doesn't go too far.

OT is already limited enough as it is. I know there are no politics rules and things, but sometimes threads just skirt those issue (or have potential to go there) and mods will close threads despite discussion being civil.

Anymore limiting and I probably wouldn't hang out here anymore.

Sure, why not? I mean, when the moon is in the seventh house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars, then peace will dance the planets, and love will steer the stars.

Not.

It seems to me the current rules for OT - and Mods' enforcement of those rules - are just about right to retain a well-balanced mix of civility, mayhem, and nonsense.

Bass players, as a group IMHO, tend to be smarter, more aware of themselves and their surroundings, with a wider spectrum of interests and foresight than guitar players. We also tend to see the the sum of the parts as a whole rather than just focusing on one part.

Not doing and being all that would bore the hell out of us.

There's nothing wrong with the occasional eff you among friends. It gets the blood flowing.

IMHO

If you don't agree, eff you all, It's my birthday and I'll do what I wanna do!

I'd rather be able to have discussions and debates with people, even if they are sometimes heated, than it be a dull opinionless hole.
