Even by Brazilian standards, the recent crime in Rio is pretty wild. Security will have to step up for the Olympics.

I assume it will. This shooting down appears to be a "one off" spectacular event. In that sense, we might very well ask the same question about London because of the July 7 bombings or any futrue Olympics in New York or Washington because of the attacks there. I would be more concerned about the general level of crime than any "one off" event.
