I knew this man since I was 11 years old. He's provided me with many a laugh, words of wisdom, and would even put us all in line when we we're screwing up. In some ways, while growing up, he was like another father to me. His sons and I had a parting of the ways back in 2006 and haven't spoken since, so today was the first I learned of his death. Nonetheless, I am very saddened by this news, and regret that I did not attend the funeral services. I shall forever miss him. RIP Phil.
