I'm an old radio pro, and LaFontaine is the SECOND great voice that I could recognize in movie and commercial promos. He was one of the greats. You know that you're "the man" when you can do a spot and the announcer introduces you as "that announcer guy from the movies"!
Here's a GREAT autobiographical LaFontaine clip on YouTube, entitled "The Voice:

And.....if you saw previews for any Disney movies in the 60's and 70's, you heard the FIRST voice I recognized: Art Gilmore (a Washington State U. graduate). He has more than 170 movie announcing credits in his bio:

Here's an anti-drug clip with his narration - the voice should sound familiar to those over 40:

Art was the narrator/announcer for some of the great classic radio and TV series - he was the announcer for Amos 'n Andy, The Adventures of Frank Race, Dr. Christian, The Sears Radio Theater, Stars Over Hollywood, The Golden Days of Radio and other radio shows. It was Gilmore who introduced Herbert W. Armstrong and Garner Ted Armstrong, on "The World Tomorrow" on radio and television.
On TV, Gilmore narrated The George Gobel Show, The Red Skelton Show, An Evening With Fred Astaire and others. He narrated 156 episodes of Highway Patrol with Broderick Crawford, and his TV guest appearances included The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Emergency!, Dragnet, and The Waltons.

Gilmore hasn't worked professionally in some years - he's 96. I will miss both of those great voices.
