That was sad to hear about today. I noticed he had been losing alot of weight over the last year or so. I heard the cancer was just recentlyt diagnosed. Ii know pacreatic cancer is one of the most deadly forms of that disease so it is no surprise that it took him quickly.

My dad died of pancreatic cancer - and it's surprising how many families have been hit by it. You basically get the diagnosis and get your affairs in order - only a tiny fraction of those who get it are cured.

Upshaw took the NFL players union a long way - he did make a positive difference in their lives.

It was sad to hear about this today. They said he was only diagnosed on Sunday .....

Mr. Upshaw was a big influence on the way the NFL player packages are structured today. Makes you wonder how many of the new and upcoming high salaried stars in the league really appreciate his efforts.

RIP

Just Sunday? Wow. I thought he had been looking bad for about a year. I had noticed a big drop in weight, and I remember feeling that his arms looked very scrawny in a pic. That said, I have lost weight due to illness before, and it is not always obvious what is happening at first.

Yeah, just this past Sunday .... the news is all over Sirius NFL channel 124, all day coverage so far. I had seen Mr. Upshaw in a fairly recent interview and thought he was looking a bit frail compared to his usual stature, but I just attributed it to aging .... CA is a mean b*stard, that's for sure ...

Another football legend gone. A sad day.

My father also passed from Pancreatic Cancer. He lasted only about three months after they discovered it. I took care of him in his last days, moments. I was lucky to have that small bit of time with him.
