The Cramps did start using bass players later on.
I always thought the Cramps got the essence of rockabilly/early 60's,late 50's horror rock better than anybody.
A lot of my "musician" friend hated them but I loved them!
The last time I saw them live ,about 9 or 10 years ago,Lux climbed on top of a 12 foot high PA stack in Spandex & high heels while singing "A-Papa papa Omm Mow Mow" during their version of the Trashmen's "Surfin' Bird". He was probably about 52 or 53 years old then!
R.I.P Lux! You will be missed! |

RIP Lux.

I saw them several times and they never once failed to kick everyone's ass. RIP Lux, you rocked the world very hard. |

I remember listening to a copy of Songs the Lord Taught Us at a friend's not too long after it came out. I was into punk at that time, but this was something else entirely. Bongo, you're right on the money--they developed their own original style, had a significant influence on bands that went on to be big, and stayed true to themselves. RIP Lux.
