Road Trip Idea

I'm going to buy a new (used, new to me) Toyota Tacoma in a month or 2.

I'm also currently working 7 days a week, 12-16 hours a day, between my regular job, and side jobs, to put away a nice chunk of change for buying a house. When I finish my main side job, remodeling a house, in a month or 2, is when I'll be buying the truck.

But I also need a break. I've been working those hours since late November, only taking days off for Christmas, and when I had kidney stones.

So what I'm thinking about doing is this-

Fly to LA, and spend a few days there. I've been there before, and I liked it, a lot.

Then, buy the truck out there. I'd do my research beforehand, to track down exactly what I'm looking for. There are some dealers who will pick you up at the airport for this kind of arrangement, so I may pick up the truck first, and have it with me in LA.

Then, drive from LA to NY, which is something I've always wanted to do.

So, the price of gas aside, are there any glaring problems with this idea?

I'm not buying a house for a while, I'm just putting money away for when I eventually do buy a house, in a few years.

Cool, certainly. But I think I might take a buddy of mine along for the ride, and since he's a dude, that's nowhere near as cool. In fact, I would go so far as to call it uncool.
