Unless there is actually a website dedicated to these tasty treats (which there probably is), I decided to ask this question here... are you supposed to discard the white outter shell or is that edible....When I eat SF seeds i eat the whole thing. Crazy question but thats for your help.

I've been eating them since I was about 9 or 10 and I have never removed the outer shell.

Yep, eat the whole thing.

My mom used to roast some pumpkin seeds every Halloween after we made the jack-o-latern. She'd marinate them in Worcestershire, roast 'em, then salt 'em. DEEElicious.

Do not east Sunflower Shells/Hulls!

The hulls are primarily fiber. Eating a lot of the hulls could conceivably cause one to become impacted. If not chewed properly, the sharp pieces of shell could possibly puncture or attach to the linings of the esophagus or digestive tract.
