Robots to get their own internet?

I haven't seen "Terminator" in years, but isn't this close to Skynet?

The key is allowing robots to share knowledge. That's really new.

Dr Waibel said it would be a place that would teach robots about the objects that fill the human world and their relationships to each other.

Not far off in the future, we'll have robots in most of our homes, and they'll all be connected via wireless internet. What could go wrong?

Well it would be either Terminator, or The Matrix, wither way bad outcomes. Maybe I need to get a headstart in the "Chosen One" business?

This is pretty much old news. The various "@Home" projects have been doing something similar for a long time. Sharing computer resources over a LAN/WAN is decades old

I can't wait! I plan to form an alliance with a toaster oven against a Toaster Strudel in few minutes!

I, for two, welcome RoboEarth if not merely for the sake of curiosity. I want to read how the least talented of stringed instrument robot musicians argue on TalkBassCollective about tonewoods and how OrangeDrop caps really have a noticable effect on tone. Of course then there will also be the funny drama of airing out laundry in public on MetalFaceBook not to mention cool robo-porn with lots of interfacing.

As long as my networked cuisinart and microwave unfold into bitchin sex-bots, I don't give a damn what they say about me to their transistor-pals.

hover, your baals won't last long if your microwave and cuisinart are transforming into sexbots.

so, i'm just gonna say the obvious. if the robots ever pull an "I robot" and rebel in order to better serve the laws of robotics, i'm siding with them.

we've done nothing but frack ourselves and our planet. we need something to overwatch us. something to tell us how to live. we are obviously not responsible enough to do it ourselves.

Don't worry, guys. I have a few variations of "delete skynet.exe" code floating around in various programs. Everything will be fine after the robots try to assimilate our computer programs and send their knowledge to the hive mind.

Its up to you, KeithBMI, to save us. May you be known as the keeper of the Delete Skynet files or The Chosen One.

The real question here is...

...when the hell do we get our hover skateboards?

Maybe the Robots will give that to us in a trade for our planet or our souls, whichever sounds better to you.
