So rockband 2 is coming for xmas I believe. Now there are some cool upgrades such as a improved drum kit, which is a midi kit with symbols retrofitted to work with the 360.
But the coolest thing I think it there will be a bass as well!!!! check it out at Gizmdo.

It sounds a lot like just playing in real life, but no, it's a game.

I think Rockband or Guitar Hero are good because of what they are not to difficult and something you can pick up and just mess around with.
There is a game in development I saw somewhere on the interweb that aims to do what you are looking for, I forget where I saw it or what it's called but it looked cool.

| | | I believe the one pictured is one of their converted Squiers. I.E you can pay a lot of money and get one, but all the game with come with is that plastic Strat beside it. They have a guitar that's been converted to a controller as well, and an electronic drum kit that they'll be selling for $300. The nice thing about the drums is that with something to voice them you can use them as an actual drum kit, the expensive guitars look like they're staying controllers only. Engadget's gallery shows the full set-up without the "premium" controllers. No dedicated bass unless you want to pay a lot extra as far as I can tell.
*Looks like I was wrong, see post further down.

| | | | Damn, I got really excited for a minute there about that bass.
I read after about the $300 for the premium drum kit but for a recording device it's prolly worth the 300 bones. My drummer is already interested. lol.
I don't even play the game that much but it looked like suck a cool accessory I started GASsing a bit.

I can't remember the name of it, but I found out from a thread in OT.

Now I just wish I didn't buy the Rock Band set when it first came out.
And ***? That drum set looks killer, but still only 1 bass drum pedal? Did they not see all the youtube videos of kids modding it so they can have 2? People want 2 kick pedals! 1 is lame!!! Get with it Rock Band!

Imagine that! | Meh. That's all well and good for musicians, but I always liked the idea of anyone and everyone being able to pick up a guitar hero controller and rock out to their hearts' content.
Honestly, most of us here know what it's like to be on a stage in front of a crowd jamming a bunch of songs for real, what's the harm in letting everybody else out there get a little taste of that?

Then Rock Band came out, Guitar Hero "World Tour" is coming out, which is basically rock band... it is all just getting to be too much.
As a musician, I will admit I am damn good at those games, but when will it friggin' end. It is becoming way too much of not only a fad, but seemingly a staple for a lot of teenagers.
All I know is that I hope it dies out soon because with the Rock Band and Guitar Hero series', new games are released yearly with 60+ songs each, and honestly, I am not comfortable with what it is doing. At first I was one of those people who defended it saying it is just a game, but the problem is that it is becoming more than just a game now |

I bought my first bass starter kit for under $300.

New gallery does indeed show a bass controller, the plastic type. No wonder I couldn't figure out what the deal was with the controller in the shot that you are talking about. I guess there is a bass controller after all. |

they never will make everyone happy, so enjoy a game that actually has a bass controller, hopefully we can have a career mode with bass only. that would be the best |
