I'm quite sure prosecuting two people for possibly lying about using steroids while playing a game is pretty low on the list of national concerns. As with previous examples, what did anyone expect them to say?

Note:
Perjury isn't merely lying in court.
Perjury is the willful act of swearing a false oath or affirmation to tell the truth, whether spoken or in writing, concerning matters material to a judicial proceeding. That is, the witness falsely promises to tell the truth about matters which affect the outcome of the case.
If the lawyer asks you what you had for breakfast, and your choice of breakfast cereals is immaterial to the case - lying about it isn't perjury.

To think we're wasting taxpayer dollars over something as trivial as this makes me sick. |

To think we're wasting taxpayer dollars over something as trivial as this makes me sick. | if the crime of perjury is not pursued, then there is no disincentive to lie when you are called as a witness in any trial.
we, as a country, decided that the accused would be judged by a jury of his peers. but that only works if witnesses are compelled (under threat of perjury) to tell the truth.
so, no, it's not about baseball, it's about something way more sacred. And to think that he didn't have to say ANYTHING. He could've just taken the 5th. But his ego and arrogance got the best of him, and he chose to lie under oath. he's an idiot, and i have no sympathy for him. |

A bigger bunch of liars and thieves never existed. May as well put them on trial for perjury while were at it. |

Pretending this is somehow going to serve as an example in more important matters is disingenuous. Where I live getting witnesses to show up for a murder trial, much less tell the truth while there, is near impossible and results in a large number of mistrials and dismissals of charges. Roger Clemens indictment will not affect that.
