I dunno maybe "politeness" has become a casualty of the electronic age. I mean when we were forced to interact with people primarily face to face, manners and politeness made it all that much easier and pleasant. Now though when so many things are done via computers, and cell phones are everywhere we kind of exist in our own insulated electronic world. Why talk to the stranger sitting next to you on the bus when you can pick up your phone and chat with your homies instead?

But I also think people were more inclined towards being polite and showing more respect in everyday dealings years ago.
