Ruger P345 aftermarket parts?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've got one, and I quite like it. There are, however a few modifications I've considered performing. Primarily, easing the tension of the magazine release button. I'm a lefty shooter, and have to operate that release with my left index finger, but even having bass-fingers it's still a pain in the butt.

So: does anyone here either know where I can find aftermarket parts for this gun, or how one might go about easing the tension in that mag release?

I can't seem to find aftermarket parts. I guess it's a combination of being a fairly new firearm and being not wildly popular like the 1911's (which is about what I want that release to feel like).

I also don't see a way to take the handle apart that I wouldn't be really nervous to try.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

If you haven't tried it yet, you should ask SR themselves. They're good folks. Failing that you can trim a coil or two from the mag release spring (something that IMO, shouldn't be done). Haven't seen a 345 IRL yet but based on the pictures on SR's site, it looks like the mag release will come off like a 1911's (as in your press it out, turn a screw or cam and then pull the assembly out with the spring captive.

I'll have to see when I go home, but yeah, from the outside it looks like a 1911 release. Hopefully the insides are the same, that'd be nice. Thanks.

And Diggler, I've tried Brownell's before. Can't seem to find any P345 specific parts, or ones that say it'll fit. But... do you (or anyone else) know if any parts are interchangeable with some 1911? Because I -do- come up with plenty of 1911 parts when doing a P345 search. I guess that's also a good question for the Ruger folks.

Hey, thanks guys.

I don't have a P345, so I'd suggest going to a forum that has a 1911 section and post your specific question there... I'd just ask if the P345's parts are interchangeable with them. From looking at a picture, it's pretty doubtful to me, but maybe a few are.

That's what I'm thinking, too (on both counts).
