Sign in to disble this ad
Hey everyone, my friend is a huge Jaco fan, ( I am too, but not like him)
He told me that there is going to be a audition I think on youtube, for the role of Jaco in a movie thats going to be made. Wondered if anyone knows about this, did a word search but cant come up with anything. I am a little old but I wouldn't mind giving it a shot, how about it? Anybody got any info on this?

I had always heard that Johnny Depp was going to play Jaco. I'll actually be a bit disappointed if he doesn't.

Well he plays bass, and he looks like he could pull off the Jaco look/personality. I think there is a pic of Johnny somewhere holding a bass and he looks like him.

it'll be much better without any well known stars.

keep it more underground.
trying to make some big budget film out of it isn't going to happen, how many really know jaco other than jazz fans and bass players.

saw mongol last night so glad tom cruise wasn't genghis khan in this

Wouldn't trying to keep Jaco's name from becoming more largely known be a disservice to his legacy?

But maybe they want a "body double" maybe "hand double" - so you see Johnny playing from a distance and then it cuts to somebody else's hands playing Jaco's famous bass lines!!

I don't think anybody who isn't practicing bass every day could play some of Jaco's stuff.

Johnny Depp would make an excellent Jaco.

Another option is Keanu, he has that junk-head manerism, but I think he may look too humble, which goes against everything that is Jaco. But he already plays bass.

In all fairness Johnny Depp is a fairly talented guitar player.

This rumour has been circulating since 2005. You can check Jaco's forum for more details. Are there any concrete proof this time? I'm really hoping for the movie to come out!

Robert Downey Junior....because he knows how to lose it. Ugg, sorry, my bad. Not sure if I'd be able to watch a movie like this, even if they made it. His final days were pretty sad.

He would be by no means on Jaco's level, but the point is more that he at least has a musical foundation on guitar from which he would probably adapt to playing bass fairly easily. It would be challenging but not impossible to cop Jaco's lines - he doesn't have to have the improvisational/compositional skills, he would just need to learn the lines.

I would guess that they would just dub in either Jaco or someone else over whomever was acting, however.

Jaimie Fox did a great job playing Ray Charles. I think they should give him a shot at Jaco!

Chris Kattan looks lot more like Jaco than Johnny Depp, IMHO.
