Some of you might be speaker makers and/or woodworkers. Do you know if Russian Birch Plywood is the same as Baltic Birch plywood?

Hi.

AFAIK "Baltic Birch" is only a trade name for some company, I don't even know which.

Not all the plywood, or birch plywood for that matter, that comes from the Baltic countries is all that good.

Now the Russian plywood, all that I can say about the samples I've seen/used/burned is that it looks and smells pretty much like something out of a landfill (hide based glues have that effect on ya).

I'm fortunate enough to live in a country that makes high enough quality plywood for a hobbyist like me .

The bottom line for me: Don't buy hype, buy quality.

Sam

Two tall trees, a birch and a beech, are growing in the woods. A small tree begins to grow between them, and the beech says to the birch, "Is that a son of a beech or a son of a birch?"

The birch says he cannot tell. Just then a woodpecker lands on the sapling. The birch says, "Woodpecker, you are a tree expert. Can you tell if that is a son of a beech or a son of a birch?"

The woodpecker takes a taste of the small tree. He replies, "It is neither a son of a beech nor a son of a birch. It is, however, the best piece of ash I have ever put my pecker in."
