As the only NOLA resident in this thread so far, it's funny that I didn't watch the game or have much interest. I'm glad for the city, though, because I know it will lift everyone's spirits immensely, which is something this town could really use.

Just like the 2001 Patriots and the 2002 Buccaneers, the Saints have achieved respectability with a SB win. Sad sacks no more! Congrats Saints!

But it's kind of like a guy who is obese for his entire life, then gets gastric bypass and loses 300lb. The mentality of shame is kind of ingrained in us, and we're going to have to get used to the feeling of being a winner.

DISCLAIMER: I will in the following post be using excessive amounts of smileys to make it abundantly clear that this is just a tounge-in-cheek comment... Not trying to start a flame war or piss off NFL-fans, etc...

Amazingly, they broadcast the superbowl here in Norway.

Rooted for the Saints, or else my sister would (try to) kick my ass (if legal, she'd probably try to marry New Orleans).

Just one thing though, a quote from the broadcast and from the Saints website: "World champs". Doesn't it take an international sport to be the world champs? Wouldn't you have to compete againts at least one other country?

World champions of the National Football League?

Anyways, congratulations!

Well, Gard's been on other forums, so it's only a matter of time before he's here.

Have you ever heard of the World Series? Or the World Eskimo Indian Olympics? No Norwegians in that either.

The quarterback of the "New Orleans" Saints is from Texas. The quarterback of the "Indianapolis" Colts is from New Orleans. It makes me wonder why people feel such a personal connection when most of the team is from somewhere else.
