I currently have the Instinct - Samsung's first attempt at a iPhone killer. It's terrible.

I dunno, which ever one i can use with whatever provider I want? Yah, that one.
Actually, I'll pick the Blackberry Storm when that comes out.

I have a Samsung Glyde that I absolutely hate. The features and size are fantastic but the touch screen simply does not work. If it did, I'd love the phone. Instead, I'm thinking of taking a serious loss and buying a new phone just to get something that's actually usable. I have many Samsung products I love but I'm steering clear of the phones for now.

Unfortunately for me the iPhone doesn't do Verizon.

I am planning on picking up the Storm as well. If one company can make an "iphone killer", it is RIM.

I am in Canada, so that makes no difference to me. If it is running on the 3G network, no problem because I am on the only carrier that has 3G in Canada.

I'd have to see the specs but so far I haven't seen anything that really holds up to the iPhone as far as mediacentric phones go. One thing many of these phones lack is large internal memory like the 16GB I currently have. Also I don't know that anyone has a touch-screen that is as effective or a music playerv that is as convenient and effective. Also there are all the third party apps. Those add a lot. Currently postin this from my iPhone btw.

I've had a storm and an iPhone. I've still got the iPhone. The Storm was returned in 36 hours. It's RUBBISH.

Really that bad? Mind you, I've got NO business/professional use for it. I just want a cool mp3/ video, touch screen phone. Maybe some youtube.

The marketing has me convinced that I need one...

Dunno.. I've tried out the iPhone, and it does the whole touch screen thing very well, plus there's a lot of widgets/programs around, but it feels still a bit limited. It would be a pretty sure bet, though.

The Samsung with Windows Mobile would probably offer more versatility and customability, but then again I've had bad experiences with WM before, and I'm not sure about the touch functions..

I'm actually considering to get the iPod Touch, as the iPhone is a bit overpriced around here. Then again, it misses web-over-BT, which is a minus. I'm also considering the Nokia 5800 phone, which is a bit cheaper than the iPhone. The Nokia runs on Symbian OS, so there's a bunch of software around, although I'm sure that not as much as for WM or for iPhone.

If you go through the simple process of jailbreaking your iPhone then you can do just about anything you want with it.

alright, guys. i was thinking of posting a thread dedicated to phones, but i'll just hi-jack this one.

i'm seriously considering getting a blackberry with an att plan. i'd just use wi-fi for internet access--gladly sacrifice instant internet to save an extra $30 a month.

i'm not an "apple person."

what phone company do you prefer, and what phone with that company do you like?

i'm a total smartphone/pda noob. i imagine i'll be more than impressed by a phone that doesn't run out of batteries after three minutes of use.
