San Diego visit: I am officially in love with this place

Thanks for the suggestions about what to do out here -- I am officially in love!

Friday:

* Visited the USS Midway -- great time. What an amazing museum. I was totally blown away by the sheer size and complexity of the thing.

* Spent time at Bass San Diego. Great guys and I got a chance to play some Dingwalls for the first time as well as some sweet Sadowsky's and Elricks.

* The wife and I visited Seaport Village and watched the sunset over appetizers and drinks. Very cool!

* Went to Croce's restaurant (yes, as in Jim Croce) in the Gaslamp district. Saw these guys play live: www.yavaz.net. Great band, and the bass player was so cool, he played a Yamaha Nathan East!

Saturday:

* Went to Balboa Park. What a beautiful spot! Well worth the time.

* Watched the sunset on the beach at the Hotel Del Coronado.

* Had dinner at the Sheerwater restaurant at the hotel. Top Marks.

It's now Sunday morning at it'll be time to start packing pretty soon to go home. I suppose I'll go out on the balcony and have one last cup of coffee but I definitely don't want to leave.

Great trip, great town. San Diego is officially now one of my favorite places!

We've got Minnesota beat for weather, but you guys have Prince. I'd say it's almost a fair trade.

Nice place, huh? I lived there from 1984 - 1990. Lot of great memories...

San Diego is my 3rd favorite city behind Boston and Basel. Oh and you know how Seaport Village is supposed to be modeled after a New England fishing town or whatever? Yeahno, not even close.

You didn't take any of my suggestions, therefore, you will not be allowed to return. I have THAT kind of power. I am glad that you enjoyed your first and only trip here though.

Agreed. Nonetheless, it's still a cool little area.

My daughter and I take the dog to Seaport Village about once a month just to walk around and listen to the bands in the Gazebo. Once in a while they have a custom car show or Corvette rally in the park on the bay there. Just a fun way to relax. I've never lived anywhere else.

Yeah, I like it a lot, it's just they missed what they were going for by like a mile and a half.

Weird...I've lived in San Diego my whole life and this is the first time I've heard that it was supposed to be modeled after anything, haha.
