My favorite quote from the vid (though I haven't suffered through the whole thing yet):
"Metal artists are under demonic control during performances. These demons not only control artists performances, but enhances [sic] their skill..."
Apparently most of the metal bands in my neck of the woods haven't been getting possessed enough... | The demons have given up on me, I can't seem to play any more. |

I wonder if that theory transfers genres as well. I bet Mozart, Liszt, and Haydn were considered by some to be possesed back in the day too.
.........WOOTEN IS A DEMON IN DISGUISE!!!!!

Apparently, the Devil loves skinny-jeans and fancy haircuts... | Hey. come on now. Suicide Silence falls under that category, sure, but they had The Faceless (progressive/tech death) and Carnifex (who mostly make death metal now) as well. Not gonna lie, I kind of liked the soundtrack the guy picked.

After all, isn't Satan a fallen angel, an archangel? So, believing in and worshipping Satan is a sort of mirror-image version of Christianity. When you stand against everything Christian, your basis is still Christianity. I find this mildly amusing. | Well, followers of LaVeyian Satanism are pretty upfront with exactly that. Keep in mind that LaVey Satanists don't worship Satan as an actual metaphysical being, but rather, treat Satan as a literary and philosophical personification of self-worship. To me, it's really just a repackaging of a lot of Nietzsche's thinking, but to each his or her own.
When it comes to metal, I think that the only people who really take the Satanism stuff seriously are some black metal bands and Glenn Benton...and even I wonder how much of it is an act with those people. As far as King Diamond - despite being a Satanist, I've always found him to be nothing but intelligent, thoughtful, and polite in interviews. I don't share his belief system, but I'd have no problem breaking bread and having a beer with him. Satanist, Christian, or Scientologist - I'm cool with just about everyone, regardless of theological beliefs.

As all of us know of the church burnings and murders involved with them in the 80-90s.
Glenn Benton is on another level to me. My old Death Metal band opened for Deicide acouple years ago. Before the show started my guitarist and I walked up to Glenn and said how we were very excited to open for Deicide and how much we appreciate his music. We both shook his hand and When we did, it was just a really weird experience. I felt something when I did. It's hard to explain, but it didn't feel right.
If anyone is actually possesed by the devil in metal, in my opinion it's Glenn Benton.

Mind you, I still crank that debut album occasionally and being three feet from Steve Asheim in full flow was a truly awesome experience. |

And Steve Asheim is a beast. They were hella awesome to see live.

The people they cite as metal performers is pretty out there. John Lennon, Little Richard, and Bon Jovi......Wonder where they figured those out. I have never heard John Lennon and Carnifex grouped into the same general style of music before.
