Could you keep the secret about where you work? Could you keep the secret about what your work consists of, what you are working on? Would you tell your significant other? Relatives? Friends?
Would you accept such a job? |

Seriously, I don't know if I could take a job like that. You would have to have a family that would accept a "I work for the government" type of answer. Treason and being bugged by the media would be a great motivator to keep things under wraps. |

For the record, the US Government is very, very good at figuring out who is likely to talk, and who isn't long before they employ someone in sensitive positions. Various security agencies and the US military branches have had it almost down to a science since before the phrase "psychological profile" existed.
For those that can't be trusted or screened (say, elected officials and/or their appointees) threat of being fired, prosecuted, fined, imprisoned, or in some cases, shot for treason usually suffices to keep people from talking about sensitive issues.

It's a total decoy so that nobody even looks for Area 52.
They probably just sit around reading comic books and surfing pron all day. I could do that. |

Would you accept such a job? | I've done a good job of it so far. Most people here think I'm a geotechnical engineer ... except those in the know.
