Scariest moment of your life ?

Sign in to disble this ad
The "angriest you've ever been" thread was an interesting read so I thought I'd start a similar thread. So what's the scariest moment of your life? Feel free to list as many as you want. As for me, it was probably when in Seattle two groups of guys exchanged words eventually resulting in a gun being pulled out. I couldn't move for a few seconds from the shock of it , luckily no one was hurt. Let's hear 'em!!

March 22, 1994. A knock at the door. It was a police officer. My sister had been missing for a couple of days. My parents were at my grandparents house. He asked where that was. I asked if it had anything to do with my sister. He said he couldn't tell me. That's not good news. If you can only tell the parents, that's not good news. He left for my grandparents house. I followed shortly after. On the drive over my heart was trying to jump out of my chest. She had passed in her sleep. No cause of death was ever found. I remember the sadness, but I also will never forget that fear.

Sorry if that's depressing. It's been a long time. Remembering doesn't hurt as bad as it used to.

I've had a few, but by far the worst was going through open-heart surgery last year. It seemed like it was so unfair at the time being that I'm a relatively healthy athletic guy.
It sucked, but paid off in spades so I cant complain.

My wife and I were on our way home from a week in Europe and were waiting for a flight in Paris. Air France had decided to bump us off our flight, which would have resulted in her being fired from her job, we would have been one day late getting back.
I was pi$$ed! They virtually ignored me until I said this at the ticket counter;
"If my wife and I don't get on that flight, I'm gonna leave this airport, get a bomb and blow up this ticket counter. The lady behind the counter pretended to ignore me, which made me even more furious. A couple of minutes later, I looked behind me and there were 10 ETF guys standing 4 ft behind me, lookin, well scarey! I thought it was the Bastille for me!
They eventually realized I was just an upset Canuck and left after 1/2 an hour, but I was a little worried for a moment!
BTW - this was one year before 911!

Sending my not quite 2 year old on a helicopter to Childrens Medical Center after a series of seizures. I had the flu and was unable to be with her in the hospital that morning. My mom had to take me, by car, to Dallas as my wife and daughter were in the air.

Messed me up, bad.

June 27 2008....My wife and I were driving home when I get a phone call from one of my best friend Jason..he ask if I had talk to my brother's roommate because he called him trying to get my parents number but wouldnt say why.....I called my brother's roommate and when he answered,he just started bawling and saying I need to get there.....I start screaming ''what happened?'', ''wheres Waylon?'' (my brother, and best friend)

all he said was ''he's not moving, you need to get here''
at this point,i remember screaming at him to call the police and ambulance, which he already did.....I remember the drive there seemed like forever and i was completely calm....until i pulled up seeing all the police....thats when it hit me.

My brother was found dead in his room from a gunshot to the head.....of course they wouldnt let me go in...so in a face full of tears and shock...I had to call my parents to tell him what happened....that was the worst experience ive ever encounter having to listen to my mom scream and call me a liar.

what pisses me off the most,is that the police ruled it as suicide......it was an accident,or murder.....its almost been a year and we still dont know for sure....I knew him better than anyone...he was totally against suicide and said that people who did that were weak.....besides that,he waited 6 years to buy a motorcycle.....he finally bought one 1 week before his death....that was the last picture i took of him ,on the bike, he had the biggest grin you've ever seen..plus if it was suicide,he would have left a note......but not once did suicide sound right...even when i tried to convince myself it was.

the really strange thing is several months later, the roommate (who dissappeared) called me asking if my parents still had money put aside for him (for bills that my brother left).....i called my parents and the roommate went over there to collect some money......he was strung out on something, and told my parents that Waylon was the third roommate that he has found dead in thier room!!!!!!!!1...ever since then my dad has been convinced he had something to do with his death,he called the detective but the case is closed and they wont investigate....and of course the roommate has fled the city, so ive heard.......

sorry for the lenghty reply ,it feels good to talk about it....i havent in awhile....he was 28 when he died...he was also my biggest music inspiration, and a very accomphlished drummer....
its almost been a year now....
but I remember that drive to his house and that fear that I felt like it was 5 minutes ago.

The day I was told that the lump they took out of my shoulder was cancer. Thankfully, I'm cancer-free now. At the time, though, it scared me silly, especially since my father had died of cancer at the ripe old age of 34.

Most of my scariest moments involve police, guns pointed at my face or car accidents.
Oddly, I'm never scared while it's happening, only after the moment of danger has passed.
I've also been really scared at some of the stupid things my kids have done.

The scariest moment of my life was when me,my brother and my riend were ding-dong ditching the night before Haloween and we were walking home when two guys came up, pushed me to the ground and one pointed a loaded gun at my chest while the other was explaining that he has a sick daughter at home and he dosen't want her to be disturbed with the door bell. And the scary part was that when a caught the face of the guy pointing the gun at me, he was my neigbor. I've never trusted him scince.

One day about three years ago, I got into my truck and started to drive to work. The last thing I remember is heading onto the highway and merging into early morning heavy traffic. The next thing I remember is sitting in the back of a police car, hands cuffed behind my back, being force fed something which tasted like toothpaste. Oh yeah, this was in the next town over, about 20 or thirty miles away.

What happened is that my blood sugar level dropped to about 30 and my mind turned itself off. I ended up stopped at a stop sign at an intersection at the end of an offramp from the highway, just sitting there. A passer-by called police when he discovered that I wasn't responding to his yelling.

Once I regained my senses, and the police officers told me what had happened, I was scared out of my mind. I'll never know how I managed to navigate heavy morning traffic on a busy highway for thirty miles without having an accident without being conscience.

I now test my blood sugar much more often to prevent this from happening again.
