Opinions? Thoughts?
I personally find it to be scary. Where does privacy exist then?

ive seen something like this and wearing sun glasses did stop a different machine. that machine used the shape of the eyes to match up but wearing some sun glasses blocked it, dont remember if glasses themselves would do anything but if there is a glare then unless the lens can filter that out there are ways. the documentary was The Human Face with john cleese

edit: second episode

And they just finished up microchipping the last person, didn't they? Oh wait.

I just don't see this happening any time soon. Never mind the obvious privacy issues, the capital requirements alone will prevent this for quite some time.

It depends on what source they use to measure the eye, it's probably in the IR so most lenses won't do anything.

This is overblown IMO. We've got iris scanners installed at our data centers and they're supposedly "stat of the art" but they have to have a control scan in the system to compare any scan to. That and you have to be right up on them and look into a lenz just right or it won't read.

A scanner that can pick someone at random out of a crowd, much less one that can do that without haveing a control scan of that person in a database, doesn't exist that I know of. If it does, it is in the developmental stages and would be ridiculously expensive and still need control scans from everybody to be effective.

It's "Fast Company" magazine.

There will be widespread Iris scanners tracking populations when we have jet packs and flying cars. Speculative mumbo jumbo. IMO, of course.

Because buttock-scanning is inefficient as the average American buttocks grows by a certain percentage each year.

Well, this was happening in Mexico, not exactly a champion country for civil liberty.

This ain't gonna happen any time soon in the US. And as soon as it does, someone will invent glasses that reflect whatever spectrum of light they use to run them.

having lenses that are infared-opaque would not be that tough to accomplish, i think, especially considering the vast range of specialty lenses available.

Oh boo hoo, get over it just like you got over swine flu and y2k. Seriously its your eyes just as natural as your fingerprints and DNA. And you don't seem to mind about those being taken. Too bad the tech is being wasted in mexico though.

A band name tattoo on your boobies should block it.
