Pinchy, my black Asian Forest scorpion. I haven't yet built up the courage to pick him up though. He's like Emperor Scorpions, in that their tail sting is like a bee sting. The real power is in their claws.

Yeah, we have the small ones in southern Georgia. This one stung me 2 years ago on the back of my arm (tricep area).

I've had worse fire ant and wasp stings, but the creep factor was high

I've been stung by a striped bark scorpion and it hurt like a mother for about an hour but that was it. Washing the area, ice, ibuprofen, and aloe helped a lot.

That has got to be one of the most badass animals in the world. Looks like something out of a sci-fi movie.

They are. And the proof is in the history, they've been around for a good while. What's not to love; eight feet drive, armour plating, claws and a massive stinger.

I've always loved these animals and in fact my first pet was the common emperor. Beautiful animals.

If you're interested in handling it, easiest way is probably to put the scorpion on a table, then put your hand next to the table and gently push the animal on your hand with a piece of plastic. I've never been stung or even seen an attemp of stinging from Pandinus or Heterometris when handled like this since that effectively makes your hand just something they walk on. If you lift from the stinger, there is always the remote chance of him getting to you when you let go. Not a biggie, but could be nasty if you have allergies. Also, when lifting from the stinger remember that they are perfectly capable of pulling themselves up and grabbing you with the claws so be prepared for that.

I can assure you there will be no handling, lifting, sitting or walking across my palm. What so ever...........ever!

Scorpions make me feel a bit sick. So glad we don't have them in sunny England.

That was ridiculous.

The Bullfrog movie he did was pretty funny too.

Yup. Those things are about badass as you can get. If I had a hockey team, I'd name them the Kolkata Honey Badgers
