Pinchy, my black Asian Forest scorpion. I haven't yet built up the courage to pick him up though. He's like Emperor Scorpions, in that their tail sting is like a bee sting. The real power is in their claws. |

I've had worse fire ant and wasp stings, but the creep factor was high

And the proof is in the history, they've been around for a good while. What's not to love; eight feet drive, armour plating, claws and a massive stinger.
I've always loved these animals and in fact my first pet was the common emperor. Beautiful animals. Quote:

The real power is in their claws. | If you're interested in handling it, easiest way is probably to put the scorpion on a table, then put your hand next to the table and gently push the animal on your hand with a piece of plastic. I've never been stung or even seen an attemp of stinging from Pandinus or Heterometris when handled like this since that effectively makes your hand just something they walk on. If you lift from the stinger, there is always the remote chance of him getting to you when you let go. Not a biggie, but could be nasty if you have allergies. Also, when lifting from the stinger remember that they are perfectly capable of pulling themselves up and grabbing you with the claws so be prepared for that.

That was ridiculous.
The Bullfrog movie he did was pretty funny too.
