Second Life ...what's up with that?

So I read an article about it and decided, what the heck, I have some time to kill tonight. I downloaded the client and signed on. What is supposed to be virtual reality chatting seemed to me like a bunch of people "selling" virtual sex! I mean, it was all semi-nude avatars saying "hey, baby, wanna sit down for a while?". I couldn't find a single place to have a normal conversation about anything that didn't involve "pay me for virtual sex". And to boot, it's slow as heck! I much rather waste my insomniac time on a FPS like Urban Terror.

My old roommate's girlfriend plays (or played, I'm not really sure if she still does) a lot of second life. To my knowledge, she never had virtual sex. Then again, her needs were being met in real life...

Second Life is more of a social networking client that allows users to create and sell virtual goods for real money. These things are ridiculously popular and now with the Playstation 3 getting something similar in Home and the X-Box 360 going the same route... well... for those that enjoy that kind of stuff, have fun.

I will stick to shooters and strategy games.

Did you hear the story about the couple that got a divorce when the wife found out the husband was cheating on her in Second Life?

I don't think there's a smiley that can represent how hard I laughed... Needless to say, ribs were broken.

...as someone pointed out, I'm busy enough in REAL life to be concerned with "Second Life"...
