Just got a 24 hour notice to vacate my apartment tonight, see you guys when I land myself a new place to live. The computer is going in storage and I'll be tenting outside my work until, most likely, september 1st.

24 hour notice is illegal where I live, AFAIK. Legal options?

Weird, I didn't think that was legal either. 24 hours seems a bit harsh.

I believe the minimum here in Ontario is one month. i.e. You have a month by month lease.

Prehaps the OP doesn't have a lease and is living there informally. Many people stay at a friend's apartment with an agreement to "help out" with the rent and then it turns sour and they get kicked out. Renter laws can't protect you in such cases.

I have no idea if that's the case here, but I'm just saying it happens a lot.

Where do you work that you can pitch a tent outside?

Hunting caribou?

Seriously, good luck with the move and be sure to piss on the carpet and punch holes in the dry wall.

So.....Hey everyone, I'm back.

Just moved into my new place on the 2nd and finally got the internet yesterday. I spent the last month couch slouching and sleeping on the street, it wasn't very fun, but at least it was summer and most nights weren't cold or wet. It's good to be back and settled in. Looks like my supporting membership ran out over the past month too haha.

Glad it worked out for you. What was the prompt for the eviction?
