I also had to teach a class first thing Monday morning, and I figured that much metallic intensity might, perhaps, detract from my "scholarly" demeanor.
But at least I saw Converge earlier this year. I had never heard them, but went with a good friend/former bandmate who had been talking about them constantly. Freakin' blew my mind. Those guys are amazing. And I do think the new album is great. I can only listen to stuff like that once in a great while, but at those times nothing else will do.

High on Fire was better the first time I saw them, I thought Converge wasn't very good at all, Mastodon was ok (better when I saw them in May) and Dethklok was good. The venue they were at had some really terrible sound issues which ruined the show quite a bit, and really detracted from my enjoyment of the music.

I had seen HoF already when they out played opeth, and I'm not a huge mastadon fan. I do regret not seeing dethklok, but I'm sure they'll come around again...
