Serious Question About Toys

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone own / have owned a toy piano? I was looking into ordering one for some random home recordings. I like to have a wide variety of small, relatively cheap instruments laying around just in case (and they're good for big ol' jams). Anyone have any brands in mind or model I should look in to?

Or are you looking specifically for mic-ing a cheapy toy piano? (in which case, I don't have anything I could really add )

Fisher Price. My nephew plays one in his band and it's fabulous! It's a just a little bit out of tune, but I think that's a large part of it's appeal. He looks sorta like Schroeder when he plays it.....

Yep, looking to mic it. The midi option is the more sensible one, but I also just really want one.

my old band had a toy piano in our rehearsal room. it was recorded a number of times..

i've also heard toy piano on some JFJO albums, and i think robert walter has used one a number of times. among many others, of course- but my point is, its hardly uncommon to use a toy piano. its an interesting little sound.
