Share Internet from Laptop

Alright, so I have a wired connection that I can plug my laptop into. The laptop has wireless capabilities, but we don't have a wireless connection. I'm trying to get Internet on a wireless device I have.
So, is it possible to share the wired Internet from my laptop wirelessly so my wireless device can access it also?

Don't have an exact answer for you, I had to ask a friend this one, but he said:

if you set it up peer to peer and I think you would need to enable shared internet connection
your wireless on say your laptop can receive or host, depending on how it is set

sorry, but that's all I got.

Is this a Windows computer? If so then what version? You can do this and you need to set up an "ad hoc" network on the laptop and then connect to that network with the other device. Just google "ad hoc network windows 7" or whatever version you have and you will certainly find a walkthrough. That will save any of us from having to type out the steps.

I found this answer already. I thought I'd changed the post to say that I had figured it out, but apparently not lol

Its easily done. I ran my Xbox 360 and PS3 through my laptop's wireless connection for months. There is an option under connection options for "allow other devices to use this computer's connection" or something like that.
