Shenandoah turns two today! (service dog content)

Sign in to disble this ad
I just wanted to post that my daughter's service dog, Shenandoah, is celebrating her second birthday today.

I've detailed her story in this thread from several months ago.

She's continued to be an excellent service dog. Yesterday, my daughter wanted to go on the Portland Light Rail train (MAX), so we packed her off with her dog onto the MAX train:

I can't imagine taking my daughter out in public without Shenandoah any more -- the dog just makes it so much easier to get around. No more screaming fits and physically dragging my daughter everywhere.

Happy Birthday, Shenandoah!!!

What a great dog.

I've been exactly where you're at in those pictures. I love the light rail system you have in Portland. I saw a lot of dogs on there without a problem. Cool stuff man.

Sorry I wasn't in town when you came by, Maki.

I was too busy in NY at the Sadowsky shop that week picking out the specs for my new bass.

I'd actually not refer to her as a dog or even a pet. With the service she's providing to you and your family...she's pretty much a family member.

It's awesome having a companion like this. Happy Birthday to her!

No worries brother. Specing out a new Sadowsky is a more than a legit enough excuse.

Just read the other thread.I can't decide which one of your daughters is cuter.

(Just kidding, Shenandoah is ugly.)

Being an animal friend(I have dog phobia tough),a vegan for that very reason, and seeing an animal being this way...Its just cool beyond words.

Lots of animals save lives, change lives everyday, yet we treat them so wrong...

Happy birthday Shenandoah.

Thank you for the link to that touching story Philbiker. TBOT has been run down today with threads of death, racism, and rioting.

Can't help but see the leash between the dog and you daughter and think, " this would really help my wife in public" as she tends to disappear.

Great dog and look forward to more stories of progress.

edit:
Just reread the old thread, this dog is brilliant.

I read through this thread twice before I realized it was a bump. I knew there was no way Shenandoah was only two because I remember the original thread from years ago. Your/her story is definitely THE single best story ever relayed on TB.

Is it just me, or is that dog getting about as big as your daughter? Last pic I remember of the dog, it was still puppy sized.

Best thing yet: Your daughters life is much improved.

Take care,

edg
