Should children witness childbirth?

Sign in to disble this ad
A young mother (Heidi) went into labor. She knew she was in no condition to drive herself to the hospital so she called 911. Due to a power outage, only one paramedic responded to the call. The house was very dark so the paramedic asked Kathleen, a 3-yr old girl to hold a flashlight high over her mommy so he could see while he helped deliver the baby.

Very diligently, Kathleen did as she was asked. Heidi pushed and pushed and after a little while, Connor was born. The paramedic lifted him by his little feet and spanked him on his bottom. Connor began to cry.

The paramedic then thanked Kathleen for her help and asked the wide-eyed 3-yr old what she thought about what she had just witnessed.

Kathleen quickly responded, 'He shouldn't have crawled in there in the first place.....smack his butt again!'

Seeing cats have kittens once or twice early on kept me careful about causing such a thing to occur- I NEVER got a cat pregnant(AFAIK).

i think our minds limit our memory so as not to recall that whole birthing and breast feeding thing. im very happy not to recall these things. it makes conversations with my mother possible.

When they ask where babies come from, you could just point.

You always use protection with your cats, then?
I'm curious, but I'm a curious person by nature. Not sure if I'd like to see it more than once.

My fiancé made me watch a video of it a month or so ago. Not fun at all. I'll watch my own kids get born, someday, but that is it.

Why would you watch your own kids get born? Are you not a man?
Go to the bar and have a drink for your future children while your wife is bearing them, for godssakes, don't watch while it's happening!

Real men watch their children being born, and cry. Then they stick around and TCOB. I'm a complete & total wuss but I was there all three times, AND I'm still here.

Yeah I'd like for my future-husband to be there and watch. If I'm going through that, he's going to watch it.

Anybody watched Sting's recording of his son's birth on the Bring On The Night DVD? I always skip that part.

I have NO desire to watch someone else's child being born. Likewise, we did not nor did we even entertain recording ours. THAT I do not get.

Why is it that that everybody seems to think that it's proper for the man to watch his wife give birth to his child?

Maybe because it shows that you care about your wife and child?
