I am desperate for a job !!! I owe approx. ~ 1100$ and I can't find a job anywhere ! Did I mention I was going to college in Sept ?
There's only 6000 people here so jobs aren't THAT easy to get. Looked through the newspaper couldn't find anything, so I got 3 last resorts.
1. Making signs. I'd like the job.. but I have no clue if they are hiring ?
2. McDonalds.............
3. Tree planter ?
Is tree planting an awful job ? For those who don't know, you go in the woods with a tent, wake up at ~ 8 am, plant trees ALL day, go back to bed in your tent. During the weekends you go back to town and sleep in a motel. Now the good thing about this is that it's in my town. So I'd get to sleep home.
Any thoughts on this ? Experiences ?

When I did it, it involved sticking a spud in the the ground, putting a tree in the slot, and then moving on. Lather, rinse, repeat. Fill your iPod up, it could be a lot worse.
I used to look forward to my 1-2 weeks/ summer in a tent in Canada. But that's just me. |

You may also make some extra for more gear! |

Even though I haven't had a pleasure to try any of those "professions", I'd go for the tree planting job. A friend of mine did that for a while some 20 years ago, and the pay was per a plant, so being an athlete and an outdoors type of a person, he did quite well.
The iPod will get You through rather well if it's a flash type and/or You can charge it regularely. (As You most probably can). Nothing wrong with listening the sounds of the forest either .
The sign-making could be fun, but the productivity expectations can be hard to meet.
The burger-flipping would be the last on my list as an unfortunate accidents usually happens with a large group of people crammed in a small kitchen, and under a great hurry.
But still, Pacman said it best. I'd follow his advice.
Regards
Sam |

Any thoughts on this ? Experiences ? | Try to do all three. Plant trees through the week. Work at McD's on the weekends when you're at home. If the sign thing is on your own time, do it at night ont he weekends; or bring it with you at night while sitting in your tent, bored. If not, trees during the week, burgers on the weekends. That $1100 will be gone in no time.
Do that until you start college and you'll have yourself a nice nest egg to sit on.
